Truly is squirrel proof! Big birds like starlings don't hang around long either, they can't get into the seeds. Great for little birds!
The birdfeeder was just what I was looking for and could not find locally. It holds enough seed to last several days, but not so much that it is hard to rehang after filling.
I have had one for 15 years and now ready for a new one after so many bear attacks but it stood the beating very well made!

This is a wonderful bird feeder. I put it out in the winter and it works great. It keeps the squirrels off.
It is not squirrel proof. They still take a lot of seeds. Our squirrels (red and gray) hang upside down on it and reach in to get seeds off the bottom plate. I will admit, though, this is the longest-lasting feeder I've ever had. I have two. They've taken a tumble to the ground from my raised deck from time to time (12' drop) and have not been damaged. And the squirrels cannot get at the plastic seed holder so they cannot chew it up.
Not squirrel proof, but it does take them a lot longer to pull the seeds out with their paws, for this reason I give it a 4. Hard to beat squirrel determination.
I love this feeder. A squirrel tried for an hour to get seeds but gave up and never returned to it again. I am sitting by the window watching three yellow finches feeding right now.
My Finches and Black throated sparrows have a full-time party every day. Their chicks are here and I am back to feeding them 2-3 pounds of birdseed in 24-36 hours. That's counting night time when they are not out. So far the squirrels haven't been into much YET. So as long as my tape holds the feeder in place since I can't hang it on a tree, I too am enjoying the feeder. I see so many "human qualities" in the actions of my birds. They are a better show than TV!
My birds love them unfortunately my squirrels love them also. They are not squirrel proof! However they do take longer for the squirrels to empty. I have 5 feeders in my yard in which two of them are of this type. The squirrels can empty the other ones in about 3 days while it takes these feeders longer to empty. I would have rated them a 5 except as I said they are not squirrel proof.
Bought several bird feeders and this is the only one I'm not happy with. The lid does not stay on and the squirrels have no trouble getting the food. It is not the least bit "squirrel proof".
Squirrels were on it immediately, did not deter them.
