Have to report that there is utter disappointment in the squirrel community now that I have replaced their favorite diner with the Whipper. I am saving so much $$ now! Well built, like all the Droll Yankee products, and easy to fill.
I had been plagued with problems with squirrels and pigeons invading my bird feeders. I managed to get rid of the squirrels but nothing seemed to vanquish the pigeons. But, that was until I purchased the Whipper. The pigeons are just too heavy for them and they cannot feed at this type of feeder. The pigeons have been relegated to feeding on the ground from the meager food that the smaller wild birds drop. I have been very satisfied with the results, so far.
This is one of the best squirrel proof feeders. The perches really do collapse under the weight of the squirrel. And they are tough as nails. I have used other Yankee products and somehow the little critters managed to UNSCREW the perches. This one has them fooled.
I love this bird feeder ! I finally found a feeder that keeps the squirrels away like it PROMISED ! It holds a lot of food so I'm not out there every other day filling it up. I can put a variety of different types of food or just one kind. The amount of birds and new types of birds I now have has tripled in quantity.

I am extremely pleased with the squirrel proof bird feeder because it does what it advertises. Also, it holds an ample supply of bird food that doesn't require constant filling. It also attracts bird species that I haven't seen before.

The feeder attracts a large variety of birds , mainly cardinals, chickadees, goldfinches and titmice. We never saw most of them in the woods next to our backyard before. It is perfectly squirrel proof as advertised. We also have a chipmunk that twice climbed up to the top of the pole from which the feeder is suspended and then climbed down again. On the third ascent the chipmunk tried to a leap from the pole to the feeder, missed and landed on the ground. Since then, it is content to eat some seeds and shells that drop to the ground as the birds feed.
Our feeder works great with preventing the squirrels from eating non-stop. They finally have stopped trying. We do have female grackles and doves eating from it - they just flap their wings non-stop to stay on the perches to graze. I was hoping they'd wear out and stop but ... not yet! We wish the perches were a little more sensitive to their weight. The male grackles have stopped. They don't fit! Our son has this same feeder and we've recommended it to others. We love your website - especially the video!
I first became aware of this feeder when I worked for the Wild Bird Center in Alexandria, VA. The product was sold in that store and it got rave reviews from all the customers who purchased it. I purchased this feeder for my step-brother and his family because they live in an area near Cincinnati, OH which has many trees and twice as many squirrels. They have had tremendous success since putting the feeder up. No more squirrel or raccoon problems.
The birds love it! I have it on a squirrel stopper pole, so I am not a good judge of how squirrel proof it is. All in all, it is a great feeder.
I have had a Droll tipping feeder for about 5 yrs., and it's GREAT!(5 Stars) The Whipper is just okay, both feeders are on the same pole I have found that all species, large and small go to the tipper 1st. I have to refill it long before the Whipper the doves have especially difficult time trying to perch on it. I wish I had bought another Tipper.
